I am hoping to go back to college this year as a mature student. I am hoping to do a course in a PLC college, but its away from home so i will be on my own.
I have been to college already, did a course after school for the sake of doing something. I wasn't really all that interested. I have always been interested in animals and there wasn't alot of options when i was finishing school so i left it at that.
I am currently in a job i hate but do voluntary work with animals once a week and i love it. It is something i want to get into now at 27.
I am applying for the animal care course in a PLC college in cork with a view to go on and do veterinary nursing. Its great i can do it in a PLC college but what are my options regarding funding?
I am saving for living expenses which is the worst part really. But i know i probably will never have enough or just about scrape by. If my plan is correct, i am hoping on living on €200 per week but that is just first year. If i am stuck, what are my options?
Everything i have read says i am not entitled to the grant because i have a qualification. All the help seems to be for people getting through their first course. Where can i get money? Who gives loans ?to students easily? Are jobs easy to find? Anything?

Check with your local VEC about the funding situation. Also have a look at www.studentfinance.ie and www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/education/vocational-education-and-training/training-and-apprentiship-programmes/post_leaving_certificate_courses?tab=.
